AD Aerospace Video Safety and Security Systems for Aircraft

In addition to general security applications such as threat detection, physical security and access control, these systems can be used for monitoring activity in the cockpit, passenger cabin, external control services and for cargo hold surveillance.

AD Aerospace sincerely and passionately believes that video systems can be used to improve the safety and security of aircraft and their passengers, and that AD Aerospace is the best in the world at delivering this technology.

AD Aerospace is headquartered in Manchester, UK, with service/support offices in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, as well as regional sales/support offices in Moscow, Rome, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Delhi, Seattle, Miami, Bogotá, Mexico City, San Salvador, Santiago, Chile and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

FlightVu CCTV systems

The generic term for all AD Aerospace camera (CCTV) and server systems is FlightVu. They are designed and manufactured to be fitted in the demanding environment of fixed-wing and rotor aircraft. These systems can be split into four main categories:

Witness passenger protection system

Witness is a server-based system for the protection of passengers in the airline cabin. This consists of a network of internally mounted, covert and overt, cameras connected to a video server with ‘Panic’ buttons for crew use in the event of an incident (from disruptive passengers to terrorist acts).

The FlightVu Witness camera system can be promoted to passengers by placing emphasis on their safety and protection. Recordings are produced in such a way as to be court admissible evidence.

CabinVu Flightdeck monitoring system

The CabinVu Cockpit Door Monitoring System improves cockpit safety by increasing the situational awareness of the pilots providing them with a clear and unrestricted view of the area outside the cockpit door and in the adjacent galleys.

A series of cameras are linked to either one or two monitors and associated controllers within easy reach of the pilots for ease and comfort of use. This allows the pilots to identify persons requesting entry and to detect suspicious behaviour or potential threat in line with ICAO, EUROCAE and other standards.

Defender aircraft security system

Defender is a server-based system for securing VIP aircraft on the ground. It consists of a network of internally and externally mounted cameras joined to a recorder/server with Video Motion Detection.

Alarmed video signals are fed to an onboard recorder where they stored on a removable solid state drive. Local review of the stored video can be achieved via a laptop PC or EFB connected to the Ethernet output on the aircraft recorder unit.

CargoVu freight and baggage security

FlightVu CargoVu is a series of cameras within the cargo area of aircraft connected to a video server and possibly a flight deck display, which allows a visual check, either live or recorded, on cargo loading to assess progress and monitor for illegal activity.
