US-based UTC Aerospace Systems has been selected by Thailand’s flag carrier Thai Airways International to provide wheels and carbon brakes for its new fleet of 14 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Under the deal, UTC Aerospace Systems will provide components through its wheels and brakes business in Troy, Ohio.

"We are excited to have been selected by Thai for their new fleet of 777-300ER aircraft, continuing our long-term relationship that includes supplying wheels and brakes for their fleets of 747-400 and 777CL aircraft."

Delivered under the Goodrich brand, the 777-300ER carbon brakes incorporate DURACARB carbon heat sink material.

The DURACARB carbon offers improved brake performance and a 35% lifespan advantage compared with competitive products, providing cost savings for operators, according to UTC Aerospace Systems.

UTC Aerospace Systems Wheels & Brakes commercial programmes vice president Cory May said: "We are excited to have been selected by Thai for their new fleet of 777-300ER aircraft, continuing our long-term relationship that includes supplying wheels and brakes for their fleets of 747-400 and 777CL aircraft."

Thai Airways International operates flights to 71 destinations in 35 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.

In January, Russia’s Aeroflot entered into an agreement with UTC Aerospace Systems for wheels and carbon brakes for its new fleet of 16 Boeing 777-300ER aeroplanes.

UTC Aerospace Systems, a subsidiary of United Technologies, is involved in designing, manufacturing and servicing of integrated systems and components for the aerospace and defence industries.

United Technologies, headquartered in Connecticut, manufactures aircraft engines, helicopters, HVAC, fuel cells, elevators and escalators, fire and security, building systems and industrial products.
