Civil Administration of China head Li Jiaxiang said the country would not reduce its order for Boeing and Airbus jets since its indigenous commercial jets were not ready to meet domestic demand.

Airlines such as Air China and Chinese Eastern Airlines have placed multibillion-dollar orders for foreign jets to meet the rise in domestic air travel demand.

In November 2010, China announced a 100-plane order for its first commercial jetliner, C919, as part of its move to reduce its reliance on foreign planes.

Li Jiaxiang said that over the next five years, the manufacturing scale for the C919 jet would be decided based on test flight results, according to Reuters.
