UPS will extend its airplane health management (AHM) information-driven system designed for Boeing aircraft to the MD-11 Freighter fleet to increase on-time performance.

As per the agreement, AHM coverage will be provided to 38 MD-11 freighters, 13 747-400 freighter and Boeing converted freighter airplanes.

UPS Airlines maintenance and engineering vice-president Warren Johnson said the system would allow aircraft maintenance personnel to be better prepared and manage unscheduled maintenance events.

AHM works through the myboeingfleet.com portal through which alerts and notifications are delivered to airline personnel through the internet, fax, personal digital assistants, email and pager services.

The system is a crucial component in Boeing’s larger vision of the e-enabled airline.
