Transaero Airlines has confirmed an order for eight A320neo aircraft following a memorandum of understanding signed in August 2011.

The A320neo offers a range up to 500nm (950km) and comes with the latest-generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices.

Airbus said the A320neo, which is expected to enter service from 2015, is designed to offer fuel savings of up to 15% compared with the A320 Family.

The airline will deploy the new aircraft within its extended medium-haul network of domestic and international routes as part of its expansion strategy and fleet renewal programme.

The delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for 2017.
