Garuda Indonesia has awarded a $1.2bn order to Rolls-Royce for its TotalCare service support and Trent 7000 engines, which will power the airline’s newly ordered 14 Airbus A330neo aircraft.

Scheduled to enter service next year, the Trent 7000 is the seventh member of the Trent family which has been involving in the wide body aircraft market over the last two decades.

The new order replaces a current order for seven A330-300 aircraft powered by Trent 700 engines.

In order to foster longer term growth of Garuda and Indonesian civil aviation, both parties have also agreed to explore maintenance co-operation and skills development opportunities.

Rolls-Royce civil aerospace president Eric Schulz said: "Indonesia has great economic prospects and we are committed to supporting its future growth in air travel.

Garuda Indonesia president and CEO Arif Wibowo said: "This contract further deepens our relationship with Rolls-Royce and we look forward to bringing these new aircraft into service."

Garuda Indonesia currently operates 24 Trent 700-powered A330 jets with an additional two on order.

With the newly ordered re-engined version of 14 Airbus A330neo aircraft, the airline aims to support its growth and future business expansion.

Expected to be delivered from 2019 onwards, the A330neo aircraft will be used by the airline to develop its medium and long-haul network.
