XTI Aircraft Company and Bye Aerospace have signed a deal to co-develop a hybrid/electric prototype of TriFan vertical take-off and landing aircraft.

The partnership will develop a hybrid-electric propulsion system comprising a single smaller turboshaft engine, electric motors, generators and batteries for the new prototype.

SITAONAIR has signed an agreement with Thales Group to develop air traffic control (ATC) data link solution, which enables transfer between avionics and ATC systems.

The deal also allows partners to jointly promote and market Thales ProATN solutions to air navigation service providers.

Irish helicopter leasing company, Waypoint Leasing Limited, has placed an order worth approximately $105.5m with Airbus Helicopters for 16 new rotary-wing aircraft.

The order includes a combination of H135, H145 and H175 twin-engine helicopters.

H135 and H145 helicopters will be used by the operators in utility and emergency medical services (EMS) duties, while the H175 is designated for search-and-rescue, oil and gas, and public services.

Canadian firm Eagle Copters Ltd has placed an order with Honeywell International Inc for ten HTS900 helicopter engines, including two from a previous order.

"The new engines will help enhance the mission capabilities of the existing Bell 407 helicopters."

Honeywell’s HTS900 engines to be supplied under the deal will power the Bell 407 civil utility helicopter.

UTC Aerospace Systems has been selected by German firm, Lufthansa Technik AG, to provide its aircraft interface device (AID) solution, which will provide improved in-flight connectivity.

The AID solution to be delivered under the contract will be installed onboard the A320 series aircraft operated by Lufthansa German Airlines.
