Airbus has secured a $2.8bn contract from Golden Falcon Aviation for the delivery of 25 single-aisle A320neo aircraft.

The new aircraft will operate under Wataniya Airways in Kuwait.

Airbus has also finalised an order with Macquarie AirFinance Group for the supply of 20 new A320neo aircraft.

Indian airliner Vistara has signed two letter of intents (LoIs) with Airbus and Boeing to buy 19 jets for $3.1bn.

Boeing will deliver six 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, while Airbus will deliver 13 A320neo and A321neo aircraft.

The LoI with Airbus also includes a flexible option to order seven additional A320neo family aircraft.

Vistara will also lease 37 new A320neo family aircraft, bringing its total fleet of A320neo-family aircraft to 50.

Boeing has received a $9.6bn order from Air Lease Corporation (ALC) for the supply of 78 aircraft.

Boeing will deliver 20 737 MAX 8 aircraft and three 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, under the contract. The order also includes an option to buy 55 additional 737 MAX aircraft.

Boeing has recently secured a $2.3bn contract from Goshawk Aviation for the supply of 20 737 MAX aircraft.

Nasa has sanctioned a $59m grant to Raytheon’s Intelligence, Information and Services business.

The fund will be used for the additional work on the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS) project of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The work will be carried out to facilitate the development of NOAA’s next-generation JPSS-2 weather satellite.

The JPSS-2 satellite is scheduled to be launched by 2021.

Airbus, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have collaborated for the development of safety requirements and regulatory standards for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in urban environments.

The consortium will share information and technical expertise to support the operational and technological assessments for the deployment of UAS in urban environments.

The partners will also share the results and information from the UAS trials, as well as conduct UAS-themed workshops and seminars.

Satellite propulsion start-up Apollo Fusion has secured $10m in funding through a series B funding round, contributed by Reid Hoffman from Greylock Partners.

Apollo intends to use the funds to enhance its manufacturing capability of ACE systems and establish new thermal chambers.

Greylock Partners member Reid Hoffman has joined Apollo Fusion’s board of directors.

Neptec Design Group has been acquired by Maxar Technologies company MDA in a C$42m ($31.9m) transaction.

Based in Canada, Neptec offers high-performance intelligent light detection and ranging (LIDAR) services.

The acquisition enhances Maxar’s space capabilities and bolsters its space robotics innovations.

Additive manufacturing services provider for the aerospace and defence markets Addaero Manufacturing (Addaero) has been acquired by Allegheny Technologies Incorporated for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction strengthens the additive manufacturing capabilities of Allegheny Technologies.
