Boeing has finalised a $936.8m order with Air Lease (ALC) for the sale of eight additional 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The deal has increased ALC’s total order for 737 MAX aircraft to 138.

ALC has so far received four 737 MAX aircraft from Boeing and expects to receive the fifth aircraft next month.

Air Lease executive vice-president John Poerschke said: “These aircraft perfectly fit ALC’s and our airline lessees’ growing need for additional 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

“Our success in MAX placements to date speaks to the strong market demand for these aircraft.”

“Aircraft feature the latest CFM International LEAP-1B engines, advanced technology winglets, Boeing Sky Interior, and large flight deck displays.”

The Boeing 737 MAX family of aircraft is designed to provide customers with improved performance and reduced operating costs, as well as increased range to serve new destinations.

Boeing Global Sales and Marketing senior vice-president Ihssane Mounir said: “The ALC team has a great track record of forecasting what airlines want in terms of new airplanes.

“Their growing commitment to the 737 MAX reflects the strong market demand for this airplane around the world.”

Last month, Boeing delivered the first in a series of six 737 MAX 8 aircraft to Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines.

The delivery was made as part of a $674m order announced by SCAT, which also includes purchase rights for five additional planes.
