Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has entered into an agreement with Austral Lineas Aéreas, a subsidiary of Aerolineas Argentina, to sell two E190 jetliners.

The Argentine airline currently operates 20 aircraft of this variant.

Austral’s new E190s are the advanced range (AR) model, which allows the carrier to fly on any route throughout Argentina to reach important cities of Brazil, nonstop, according to Embraer.

The aeroplane features 96 seats in a two-class layout, eight in executive class and the remaining in economy, with an advanced onboard entertainment system equipped with individual monitors.

Aerolíneas Argentinas president Mariano Recalde said that ever since the airline added the Embraer jets to its fleet, it has been able to expand its domestic presence, where these two aircraft will be allocated.

"The aeroplane features 96 seats in a two-class layout.”

Powered by GE 34-8E-10 turbofan engines, the Embraer 190 features avionics suite based on a Honeywell Primus Epic electronic flight and information system (EFIS) with five liquid crystal colour displays and fly-by-wire flight controls.

It also features a double bubble type, rather than circular cross section fuselage and has a maximum range of 4,260km.

To date, Embraer has delivered more than 900 E-jets.

Currently, more than 60 airlines in more than 40 countries operate E-Jets family of four aircraft in a variety of business models, including network carriers, charter operators and low cost and regional airlines.
