Singapore Airlines has awarded a $1.7bn contract to Rolls-Royce for the supply of Trent 1000 engines, which will be used to power the airliner’s Dreamliner fleet.

Rolls-Royce will further offer TotalCare engine support services to the contracted engines, under the deal.

In addition, Rolls-Royce has signed a separate contract with the airliner for the supply of Trent 7000 engines for the Airbus A330 aircraft fleet.

Emirates Airlines has confirmed a $16bn firm order with Airbus for up to 36 A380 aircraft.

The deal follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between two companies.

It includes the delivery of 20 aircraft and options to acquire 16 more aircraft in the near future.

Singapore Airlines has awarded a $200m contract to UTC Aerospace Systems to extend an existing asset management and repair services contract.

UTC will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the major systems aboard the aircraft, including cabin pressure control systems, fire protection system, lighting, sensors and emergency power systems, under the 15-year extension contract.

Volantio has raised $2.6m through a Series B funding round.

Led by Ingleside Investors, the financing round saw the participation of JetBlue Technology Ventures, International Airlines Group, Dave Baggett and Qantas Ventures.

Hwa Create Corporation has secured CNY400m ($63.29m) through a non-public offering of shares.

The China-based satellite communication and radar services provider has placed 400 million shares as part of the offering.
