The AirMule, a cargo and medical evacuation unmanned system developed by Israel’s Urban Aeronautics, has concluded its delayed first phase of flight tests.

The single engine, vertical take-off and landing aircraft is known as a fancraft and uses ducted fans to fly itself.

During the flight tests, the fancraft reached a hover height of about 2ft outside ground effect for the prototype.

The phase consisted of autonomous hovers with the vehicle’s fly-by-wire control system providing the necessary auto-stabilisation in pitch, roll and yaw rotational axes of the vehicle.
