The Thor 6 spacecraft owned by Telenor Satellite Broadcasting has completed all in-orbit and ground related testing and will commence commercial service in December 2009.

Thor 6 will provide high-power direct-to-home (DTH) television broadcasting services from the orbital location, 1°W.

The new satellite is fitted with 36 Ku transponders including 16 to provide coverage of the Nordic countries that will replace Thor 3.

The satellite will also expand capacity to support organic growth requirements.

Transition of traffic from Thor 3 to Thor 6 will be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2010.
