Elisra plans to unveil its newly developed advanced data link system-2 for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2009 Conference and Exhibition.

This first-of-its-kind data link system for Medium Altitude Long Endurance UAVs has the ability to transmit video and audio data from five different UAV-borne payloads and 24 IP outputs simultaneously.

ADLS-2 consists of an airborne segment – the Air Data Terminal and a ground segment – the Ground Data Terminal (GDT). These segments comprise different units configured according to client needs, UAV type and payload capabilities.

The ground units receive UAV data and relay it to their respective addressees. The GDT is an important part of the Ground Control Station, where personnel control the UAV and conduct two-way communications according to mission parameters.

The data link system also performs analogue/digital data conversion, aids in weight and volume reduction and offers improved performance for the UAVs.

Elisra will also showcase its C-band Starlink system along with the ADLS-2 at the conference to be held in the US between 11 and 13 August 2009.
