International Launch Service (ILS) has received the SIRIUS FM-5 satellite built by Space Systems / Loral for testing and integration.

The powerful new geostationary satellite owned by SIRIUS XM Radio for its satellite radio service is the fifth satellite of the SIRIUS fleet.

It will carry a range of technologies, including a 9m unfurlable reflector for highly-concentrated transmissions to small advanced devices.

Sirius FM-5 is based on SS/L’s flight proven and reliable LS-1300 platform with a 15-year life and a 20KW end-of-life power capability.
