TAM Linhas Aereas has ordered two additional Boeing 777-300ERs (extended range) with two purchase rights, bringing the total number of 777s on order to 12.

The $568m order will help expand TAM’s long-haul service capability to meet the growing market demand in Brazil and other countries.

TAM Airlines CEO Libano Barroso said the 777-300ER would provide the performance and versatility needed to develop a competitive network and to gain from growing international traffic.

The Boeing 777-300ER is the most successful twin-engine, long-haul airplane in the 300-400 seat market, producing 22% less CO2 and 20% less operational costs per seat.
