Turkish Airlines has recorded a 23% rise in cargo traffic to 26.1t and a 6.3% increase in passenger traffic to 2.1 million in January.

The load factor decreased by 1.5% to 67.3% and freight increased 23% to 26.1t in the same month.

The company is targeting 20% passenger growth this year, up from 16% in 2010 when 29.1 million people flew with Turkish Airlines.

The Turkish Government holds a 49% stake worth $3.2bn in the airline, which it is planning to sell, and has sought bids, according to Reuters.
