India-based low-cost airline IndiGo has selected the Aerostructures unit of UTC Aerospace Systems to provide nacelle asset support and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the carrier’s new Airbus A320 new engine option (neo) aircraft fleet.

UTC Aerospace Systems will provide the services under its Prime Solutions programme, which is a maintenance programme that delivers customised nacelle support for increasing the lifecycles of aircraft. The Prime Solutions programme was launched in 2007.

The deal is an extended version of the current support programme for IndiGo’s existing A320 current engine option (ceo) fleet, and will include A320neo nacelle system components, such as thrust reversers, fan cowls and inlet cowls.

" For nearly a decade, UTC Aerospace Systems has provided IndiGo with excellent nacelle support for our A320ceo fleet."

UTC will provide the MRO services to IndiGo at Goodrich Aerostructures Service Center-Asia in Singapore.

UTC Aerospace System aerostructures president Marc Duvall said: "We have supported IndiGo through our Prime Solutions suite of services since 2007 and congratulate IndiGo as it grows and adds the innovative A320neo aircraft to its fleet.

"We are the original equipment manufacturer for the nacelle systems on the A320neo powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines, as well as for both engines used to power the A320ceo.

"Our OEM knowledge, coupled with our fully customisable suite of nacelle services for both A320ceo and A320neo aircraft, means customers around the world such as IndiGo can count on us to ensure a seamless transition while operating both aircraft types."

Established in 2006, IndiGo currently operates a fleet of over hundred A320neo jets.

IndiGo engineering vice-president S C Gupta said: "For nearly a decade, UTC Aerospace Systems has provided IndiGo with excellent nacelle support for our A320ceo fleet.

"As the first airline in the region to operate the A320neo, we look forward to receiving the same level of exemplary nacelle service and support from them for our new aircraft fleet."

Separately, UTC Aerospace Systems has entered into a 12-year long-term maintenance agreement with Singapore Airlines to provide asset management and repair services for the carrier’s Airbus A350 fleet.
