Russian carrier UTair Aviation has signed a $3.8bn order with Boeing for 40 next-generation 737 aircraft.

The order comprises seven Boeing 737-900ERs and 33 Boeing 737-800s, which feature spacious cabin headroom as well as overhead bins that disappear into the ceiling but carry more bags.

The new aircraft will be equipped with LED lighting that offers a choice of colour in the cabin.

The order for seven 737-900ERs and 33 737-800s was announced in June at the Paris Air Show.

The Russian carrier will use the aircraft on domestic and international routes.
