SES is planning to launch the SES-4 satellite in December 2011 aboard an ILS Proton Breeze M vehicle at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The SES-4 satellite is designed and built by Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) and will expand SES’s fixed satellite services (FSS) to the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

SES-4 is a 20kW satellite with 52 C-band and 72 Ku-band transponders and is based on the flight-proven Space Systems/Loral 1300 platform.

The satellite will operate for a period of 15 years or more.
