Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) has delivered its new communications satellite AsiaSat 7 to the Baikonur Space Centre in Kazakhstan, ready for its scheduled launch on 26 November 2011.

The new satellite will be launched aboard an ILS Proton Breeze M vehicle provided by International Launch Services (ILS).

AsiaSat 7, which has been built for the Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company, is based on the Space Systems/Loral 1300 platform and will provide service for over 15 years.

AsiaSat 7 will carry 28 C-band and 17 Ku-band transponders, and a Ka-band transponder to provide television broadcasting, telephone networks and VSAT networks across the Asia-Pacific region.

AsiaSat 7 is a fixed satellite services spacecraft and will replace AsiaSat 3S at an orbit of 105.5 degrees east longitude when AsiaSat 3S reaches the end of its life in 2014.
