Embraer has secured a contract from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) to provide six Embraer 190s and options for another six, with the right to convert to Embraer 195, for a total value of $256.8m.

Currently, GECAS has 93 E-Jets of all models on lease with 15 airlines around the world, and its portfolio will increase to 101 E-Jets after the transaction.

E-Jets have a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.82, can fly at 41,000ft (12,497m) and have ranges of up to 2,400 nautical miles (4,448km).

Delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012.
