Aircraft leasing firm CIT Aerospace has finalised an order with Airbus for 15 A330-900neo and five A321ceo aircraft.

The order is valued at $5bn based on list prices, reported Reuters.

CIT has signed an initial agreement in July at the UK’s Farnborough International Airshow, becoming the launch customer for the A330neo aircraft.

CIT Transportation & International Finance president Jeff Knittel said: "Given our long-term leadership on the A330 programme, we are proud to be one of the first customers to sign a purchase agreement for the all-new A330neo aircraft.

"These agreements will enable us to provide fuel efficient solutions to our customers as CIT continues to be a leader in providing early access to the most sought after aircraft for our customers."

Airbus wide-bodied family aircraft, the A330-800neo and A330-900neo, are scheduled for first deliveries from the fourth quarter of 2017.

Airbus COO Customers John Leahy said: "CIT’s repeat order for A321ceo’s, is further evidence of the continuing high value placed by the market on this largest member of our popular A320 family, which offers the best seat-mile costs of any single-aisle aircraft and the lowest fuel burn, emissions and noise footprint in its class."

Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330neo features advanced aerodynamic enhancements and cabin, and is claimed to offer 14% in fuel efficiency and an additional range of around 400nm.
