Boeing 747-8 Freighter

Luxembourg’s cargo airline Cargolux Airlines has finalised an order for an additional Boeing 747-8 Freighter jet, worth $357.5m at list prices.

The latest order marks the 14th 747-8 Freighter the Luxembourg-based carrier has ordered from Boeing.

Cargolux interim president and CEO Richard Forson said: "This shows how pleased we, as an all-747 cargo operator, are with the performance and economics of this new generation aircraft and underlines the importance of the role of the 747 overall in the success of our company."

"Cargolux took its first delivery of 747-8 Freighter in October 2011."

Cargolux took its first delivery of 747-8 Freighter in October 2011, and was the world’s first operator of the aircraft.

Since then, the cargo carrier has received nine 747-8 Freighters, with a total of five unfilled orders for 747-8 Freighters.

Boeing’s 747-8 Freighter offers the low operating costs and enhanced economics to cargo operators, while providing improved environmental performance.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Europe Sales vice president Todd Nelp said: "Boeing and Cargolux have enjoyed nearly 40 years of shared history and we remain committed to providing this all-Boeing operator with the best products to support its continued growth."
