Advanced composites and related materials supplier Argosy International has begun construction of its manufacturing facility in Taichung Duty Free Zone, Taiwan.

The 2,300m² facility will include a clean room, cutting table, and freezer to process cut-to-shape composite kits.

Once completed, the new facility is expected to be qualified to the AS9100 standardised quality management system for the aerospace industry.

With the new space, Argosy International expects to provide composite kitted solutions to aerospace manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region.

Argosy International sales and marketing vice-president Ryan Flugel said: "Argosy Taiwan Aerospace Materials (ATAM) builds on the success of Argosy’s vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programme, which was originally launched in 2006.

"This facility is multi-customer oriented, and can be easily replicated in other locations to support customer’s growth and requirements.

"This will enable us to increase capacity and expand our capabilities in providing innovative solutions to our customers."

The company serves several markets but focuses on aerospace, automotive, tooling and prototyping for industry and electronics sector. It provides these markets with speciality chemical products such as tooling resins, adhesives, coatings, potting compounds, tapes, film adhesives, honeycomb, sealants, prepregs and high-performance fabrics.

Among other services, the company offers material cutting and kitting; VMI distribution; logistics; energy-efficiency through comprehensive green building services; production optimisation software and technical support.
