Boeing has secured a $5.6bn order from Vietnamese start-up Bamboo Airways for the delivery of 20 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The aircraft deliveries are scheduled to take place between April 2020 and 2021.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of FLC Group Bamboo Airways intends to start commercial operations from Hanoi in 2019.

Airbus has received an order from AEGEAN Airlines for the supply of 30 A320neo family aircraft. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Airbus will deliver ten A321neo and 20 A320neo aircraft as part of the contract, which is the outcome of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in March.

Based in Greece, AEGEAN Airlines operate a fleet of 37 Airbus A320neos, 11 A321s and an A319 aircraft.

Bombardier has been awarded a $961m order by US-based Delta Air Lines for the supply of 20 CRJ900 regional aircraft.

The new CRJ900 aircraft will feature Bombardier’s latest Atmosphere cabin design, which integrates large living spaces, new interior design, spacious lavatories, wheel-first roller bag capability and additional cabin connectivity.

The aircraft will have a seating capacity of 70 and operate as regional jets under the Delta Connection brand.

Bombardier has partnered with Downsview Aerospace Innovation and Research Consortium (DAIR) for the establishment of a new aerospace hub in Toronto, Canada.

Bombardier will invest approximately $1.1m in DAIR over a five-year period under the partnership. The investment will be used to support research activities at the Aeromaterials Research Centre, promote operations and conserve the aerospace heritage of the site.

Bombardier will also offer $751,037 to assist DAIR in establishing two aerospace research centres at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto.

The company will provide $675,933 over the next three years to assist the operations of DAIR Innovation Centre. Further, $1.9m will be provided in the form of capital funding to refurbish the Moth Building.

Matternet has secured a $16m investment through a Series A funding round led by Boeing HorizonX Ventures.

The funding round has involved the participation of Sony Innovation Fund, Swiss Post and Levitate Capital.

Based in the US, Matternet is specialised in drone delivery services.
