Field Air Agricultural Aircraft and Firebombing Aircraft

Established in 1963, Field Air is now involved extensively in agricultural aviation throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific region, offering a range of agricultural aircraft and custom firebombing aircraft. Activities include aerial application of liquids and solids, locust control, and firebombing.

Agricultural aircraft

The Field Air group of companies is based at Ballarat, Victoria, in south-eastern Australia. Field Air is extensively involved in all areas of agricultural aviation including aerial spraying, fertiliser and seeding; firebombing; locust control; oil spill spraying; aircraft and agricultural equipment sales and spare parts; aircraft maintenance; and pilot and engineer training.

Field Air is the largest supplier of agricultural aircraft, spare parts and equipment in the Australasian region, providing a one-stop shop for all requirements in aerial agriculture.

The Air Tractor is the world’s leading agricultural aircraft, and its variants are detailed below. Appointed Air Tractor dealers in 1978, Field Air’s dealer territory includes Australia, Asia, the Western Pacific region and New Zealand.

Small-sized turbine agricultural aircraft

The ideal aircraft for operators looking to migrate to their first turbine agricultural aircraft, the AT-402B offers the productivity and safety features that Air Tractor is well known for.

Turbine agricultural aircraft

Increased wingspan, power and hopper capacity make the AT-502B the ideal choice for operators who have outgrown the AT-402 Air Tractor range of agricultural aircraft.

Agricultural training aircraft

With all the features of the AT-502B plus the added convenience of a full dual seat cockpit with dual controls, the AT-504 is an ideal agricultural training aircraft.

Medium-sized turbine agricultural aircraft

For operators who need more capacity than provided by the AT-502B agricultural aircraft, but do not wish to move up to the AT-802A, the AT-602 agricultural aircraft is the perfect fit.

Large-sized turbine agricultural aircraft

Being the largest agricultural aircraft produced in the world, the AT-802A is the ideal solution for the larger professional agricultural operator.

Fire-fighting agricultural aircraft

The AT-802AF is specifically designed and FAA-certified for aerial fire fighting. This aircraft incorporates safety features in the design such as excellent visibility and manoeuvrability, and slow stall speed and working speed.

This fire-fighting agricultural aircraft can be configured with Wipair floats, making it a fully operational aircraft capable of self-loading on waterways.

Maintenance for piston and turbine aircraft

The aircraft maintenance division of Field Air has experienced personnel to carry out routine and overhaul maintenance on general aviation piston and turbine aircraft including Air Tractor turbine agricultural aircraft.

The Air Tractor range is designed for minimum maintenance and requires only 20 man-hours to complete scheduled airframe and engine maintenance after each 100hr of operations. The PT6 turbine power plant is a proven reliable and long-term engine, with 5,000hr allowed between overhauls (providing recognised trend-monitoring and approved maintenance systems are adopted).

Agricultural pilot training and agricultural aircraft maintenance and assembly

Field Air provides a broad base of customer support and can assist with pilot training and endorsement as well as aircraft maintenance and assembly for customers throughout its Air Tractor dealer territory.

With a wealth of operational experience, Field Air can also provide advice on aircraft loading equipment, aircraft dispersal systems, GPS systems, and variable-rate technology to ensure maximum efficiencies in aircraft operations.

Field Air is an agent for Transland, CP Nozzles, Micronair, Agrinautics, Weath Aero, Simplex, Crophawk, Perkins Technologies, GPS tracking guidance and variable rate technology. The company is based in Ballarat, one hour’s drive west of Melbourne in south-eastern Australia.
