Aircraft lessor Avolon has finalised an order with Airbus for the purchase of 100 A320neo family aircraft including 75 A320neos and 25 A321neos.

The deal has brought the number of orders placed by Avolon with Airbus to a total of 284 aircraft, comprising 240 single-aisles and 44 widebody jets.

Ireland-based Airbus has already delivered 22 single-aisles and four wide-body planes and the latest order for 100 aircraft means Avolon’s backlog with Airbus has increased to 258.

Airbus’ A320neo family of aircraft are equipped with a number of new technologies, such as the latest generation of engines and Sharklets.

These two technologies will help to reduce noise by 50%, as well as fuel consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) by 15%.

Airbus has so far received more than 6,200 orders from over 100 customers for its A320neo family of aircraft.
