Hamilton Sundstrand will build and supply multiple systems for Irkut Corporation’s new MC-21 commercial aircraft family under a $2.3bn contract.

The MC-21 aircraft family will consist of three models MC-21-200, MC-21-300 and MC-21-400 with a respective passenger capacity of 150, 181 and 212 in a one-class layout. The flight range of the aircraft for the different versions is under review.

The $2.3bn contract will include advanced electric power generating system, secondary electrical power distribution, auxiliary power unit, wing anti-ice and bleed air conditioning for the nitrogen-generation system.

Hamilton will jointly develop an integrated air management system with its partner NPO Nauka and Kidde Aerospace & Defence, a Hamilton subsidiary, who will provide a fire detection and suppression system for the aircraft.

The short to mid-range airliner is expected to enter service in 2016.
