Technical, professional and construction services provider Jacobs Engineering Group has secured an aerospace testing and facilities operations and maintenance (ATOM-4) contract at Nasa’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, US.

Under the $250m contract, Jacobs will provide aerospace testing, facility operations and maintenance, as well as IT system administration and administration services.

The deal is valid for two years, with options for three one-year terms.

"This success is built on 17 years of direct experience on the ATOM contract and a relationship with Nasa of more than 50 years."

The Ames Research Center’s ground-based aerospace test facilities contain 12ft wind tunnels and Nasa’s high-enthalpy, high-speed arc jet facilities.

Being the prime contractor for the test facilities at the centre, Jacobs is to support various experiments carried out by researchers from the space agency, other federal agencies and the commercial community.

Jacobs aerospace and technology senior vice-president Ward Johnson said: "This success is built on 17 years of direct experience on the ATOM contract and a relationship with Nasa of more than 50 years."

In January, the company won a deal to extend the engineering and science services and skills augmentation (ESSSA) contract at Nasa’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Alabama.

Valued at $127.8, the contract modification has a one-year option.
