G500 G600

GE Aviation has secured a contract from Gulfstream Aerospace to provide avionics and power systems for the recently launched Gulfstream G500 and G600 business jets.

Under the contract, the company will supply data concentration and network, power management system and health management system for the aircraft.

GE Aviation business and general aviation integrated systems president Brad Mottier said: "We are thrilled to be launching some of the most advanced electrical power and avionics technologies with Gulfstream."

Built on the G650 secondary power system, the power management system for the G500 and G600 will add primary power distribution, and reduce wiring and utility function controllers.

The data concentration and network is based on GE’s core computing system, and is a new offering for business airliners.

It provides a configurable analogue and digital data network through multiple communication protocols as well as enables connecting to avionics and utility functions.

The system can be re-configured using GE’s tool suite, which allows efficient integration and reduces cost of change over the life of the aircraft.

Built on the Gulfstream’s PlaneConnectHTM system, the advanced health management system will comprise improved compute monitoring with real-time communications through satellite, Wi-Fi transmission and 3G/cellular.

The G500 and G600 are scheduled to enter into service in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW800 series engines, the aircraft have maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925 and cabin altitude of 4,850ft at FL510.
