The EchoStar XV satellite is conducting post-launch manoeuvres after being successfully launched into space by an ILS Proton Breeze M launch vehicle.

The satellite, built for DISH Network by Space Systems / Loral (SS/L), has fired its main thruster to start manoeuvring into geosynchronous orbit.

EchoStar XV is based on SS/L’s 1300 space platform and will provide Ku-band services in the US as well as expanding DISH’s HD channel lineup.

The satellite will position itself at its geostationary orbital slot at 61.5°W longitude.
