The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has selected IFS Applications as its supply chain and maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) solution for the US National Airspace System (NAS).

IFS Applications will ensure reliability of equipment used throughout the NAS.

IFS Applications provides market-leading component-based solutions for performance-based logistics (PBL) and contractor logistics support (CLS).

It also provides fleet operator programmes and solutions for MRO, asset and fleet management, supply chain management and product lifecycle management.

The NAS is one of the most complex aviation systems in the world, which enables an average of 50,000 flights a day in the US and over much of the world’s oceans.

It has 41,000 operational facilities with over 71,000 pieces of equipment to maintain, ranging from radar systems to communication relay stations.

Lockheed Martin will be the system integrator for the FAA programme, which will be known as the logistics centre support system (LCSS).
