Skymark Airlines, a Japanese airline, has signed a contract with Airbus for four A380 aircraft, fixing a memorandum of understanding that was announced last year.

Skymark Airlines president Shinichi Nishikubo said the company would be the first Japanese airline to offer the country’s passengers the unique experience of flying aboard an A380.

“With the four-engined A380, we are free from ETOPS constraints and can provide flexible operations,” he added.

The A380 is an advanced, spacious and eco-efficient solution that will allow Japan’s air traffic to grow in a capacity constrained environment.

The latest order brings the total firm orders for the A380 to 244.
