US-based UTC Aerospace Systems has entered a long-term agreement with Lufthansa Technik, a subsidiary of Lufthansa Group, for providing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to the operators of Airbus A350 XWB aircraft.

The aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

Under the deal, Lufthansa Technik will be the initial licensed service provider to carry out MRO services on the A350 XWB nacelle system.

The aerostructures division of UTC Aerospace Systems will provide its proprietary knowledge, including repair procedures, access to OEM tooling, technical publications, worldwide performance and technical data needed to deliver A350 XWB MRO services to Lufthansa Technik.

"The agreement will give A350 XWB operators more options for locations of their nacelle MRO services from high-quality, OEM or OEM licensed repair stations."

Lufthansa Technik will also provide several assets to support repairs, including tools required to perform the repairs.

UTC Aerospace Systems aerostructures business president Marc Duvall said: "The agreement will give A350 XWB operators more options for locations of their nacelle MRO services from high-quality, OEM or OEM licensed repair stations.

"Additionally, it provides the operators confidence that A350 nacelle system MRO work performed by Lufthansa Technik will be made at the same high standard of quality and fast turnaround for which both companies are known."

Separately, the company entered a 12-year agreement with Singapore Airlines to provide asset management and repair services (MRO) for the carrier’s Airbus A350 fleet of aircraft.

Under the deal, which is part of the company’s comprehensive accessory repair and exchange (CARE) programme, UTC Aerospace will provide MRO services for air management, actuation and electric systems, as well as lighting on Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A350 fleet.
