Rolls-Royce has secured a contract from Lufthansa for SelectCare services covering Trent 500 engines on A340 aircraft operated by the airline.

An overhaul service agreement, SelectCare includes a range of supplementary services that enable customers to benefit from Rolls-Royce’s OEM insight and aftermarket capabilities, while providing cost certainty and fleet plan flexibility.

The price for this service is fixed.

"This agreement, with such a significant customer, demonstrates we can combine both quality and value in Trent 500 services.”

Lufthansa Group SVP for commercial fleet management Jöerg Hennemann said: “We value the greater flexibility and improved economics that SelectCare offers with respect to the specific requirements for our Trent 500 powered fleet.”

Engine services will be done at N3 engine overhaul services, which is a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce civil aerospace director for customers and services Dominic Horwood said: “We provide customers with a choice of competitive, capable and flexible services. This agreement, with such a significant customer, demonstrates we can combine both quality and value in Trent 500 services.”

The SelectCare service has already been opted by American Airlines and Icelandair for RB211 engines and Delta Air Lines for Trent 800s.
