US-based aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney has secured a contract to supply PW1100G-JM and V2500 engines to power up to 32 A320 family aircraft for an unnamed leasing company.

The V2500 engine is supplied through the IAE International Aero Engines consortium, which will provide the PW1100G-JM engine.

Pratt & Whitney commercial engines, sales, marketing and customer service senior vice-president Rick Deurloo said: "The lessor community is very important to us and we take pride in offering engines that have a history of dependability and provide the right solution to the industry.”

The company’s PurePower Geared Turbofan engine help reduce 16% fuel consumption, offers 75% less noise and a 50% less emissions than other engines.

So far, more than 7,000 V2500 engines have been delivered to customers worldwide.

In addition,  Hungarian budget carrier Wizz Air has selected Pratt & Whitney's PurePower Geared Turbofan engines to power its 110 Airbus A320neo family aircraft with purchase rights for up to 90 extra planes.

With a fleet of 70 Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 aircraft, Wizz Air currently serves Central and Eastern Europe.

Singapore-based aircraft leasing company BOC Aviation has also selected the V2500 engine to power its 18 firm Airbus A320ceo family aircraft.

BOC Aviation currently has 503 aircraft owned, managed or on order and has leased to 62 airlines worldwide.
