Aurigny

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has announced delivery of an E195 to Guernsey’s Aurigny Air Services, the only regional airline in the Channel Islands.

Aurigny Air Services will use the aircraft to add capacity on its Guernsey-London Gatwick route.

The E195 features 122 slim seats in a single-class layout and is the airline’s first commercial jet.

Embraer Commercial Aviation, Europe, Middle East and Africa vice-president Mathieu Duquesnoy said: "The E195 will deliver a seat mile cost that makes the aircraft economical to operate even on the short sector, especially when you combine the quick turnaround time and high reliability of the E-Jet."

Aurigny Air Services CEO Mark Darby said: "We welcome this E195, our first jet aircraft, as a catalyst to support our company’s strategic development plan which will allow us to better match capacity to demand on our flagship route.

Aurigny Air Services plans to fly up to four daily return flights with the new E195 between Guernsey and London Gatwick.

Aurigny Air Services operates passenger and freight flights to the airports in the Channel Islands as well as western France including Alderney, Dinard and Jersey.

Since entering revenue service in 2004, Embraer has received more than 1,475 orders for E-Jets, and currently 65 airlines from 45 countries operate E-Jets.
