Brazil’s Embraer has selected CPI Aerostructures to provide several structural components for E175-E2 aircraft, one of the members of the E-Jets E2 family of commercial aircraft.

The structural components will be used to manufacture engine pylon fairings of E175-E2, which is scheduled for entry into service in 2020.

First shipset of the order will be delivered during the first quarter of next year.

"These technical competencies place us in an excellent position to successfully bid on contracts for other commercial aircraft."

CPI Aero president and CEO Douglas McCrosson said: "This contract award for the new E175-E2 builds on our existing, strong relationship with Embraer and is a testament to our performance in delivering engine inlets for its Phenom 300 executive jet since 2012.  

 “To date, we have delivered inlets for more than 300 Phenom 300 executive jets and we look forward to an equally successful relationship on the E175-E2."

In 2013, Embraer had introduced the E-Jet E2 family of aircraft, including three new planes E175-E2, E190-E2, and E195-E2, with passenger capacities between 70 and 130 seats.

Since its launch, the aircraft family has received 670 commitments from airlines and leasing companies.

Of those commitments, 272 are firm orders and 398 have options and purchase rights.

McCrosson added: "This new award is our first in more than two decades for product on a commercial jet and is in keeping with our strategy to leverage our core technical competencies for military aircraft and apply them to business and commercial jet opportunities.

"These technical competencies place us in an excellent position to successfully bid on contracts for other commercial aircraft, including additional work on Embraer's E-Jets."

CPI Aerostructures currently produces structural assemblies for fixed wing aircraft, helicopters and airborne intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance pod systems.

Last month, the company won a $4m deal from Raytheon Company to build the structural pod housings for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the next generation jammer increment 1 Pod (NGJ Inc 1 Pod).
