V2500 engine

IAE International Aero Engines has entered into a V-Services fleet hour agreement (FHA) with Cathay Pacific Airways to manage 48 V2500 engines operated by the carrier’s wholly owned subsidiary Dragonair.

The deal will include installed engines on 15 A320ceo and seven A321ceo aircraft, in addition to four spares.

Cathay Pacific Airways engineering director Christopher Gibbs said the V2500 engine has been a strong powerplant in the airline’s fleet.

"It is a reliable and environmentally friendly engine that, under FHA management, will help in our continued drive to improve operational efficiency," Gibbs said.

The IAE V2500 engine is a two-shaft high-bypass turbofan engine that powers the Airbus A320 family, including A320, A321, A319 and the Airbus Corporate Jet, as well as the McDonnell Douglas MD-90.

More than 6,000 V2500 engines have been delivered to nearly 200 customers worldwide to date.

Commenting on the new deal, IAE shareholder Pratt & Whitney Aftermarket president Matthew Bromberg said: "Cathay Pacific will enjoy the benefits that come with a V-Services FHA, which include comprehensive maintenance support, cost effectiveness and improved reliability for the fleet."

In addition to FHAs, IAE’s V-Services aftermarket portfolio includes fixed price maintenance deals, material plans, spare engine solutions and lessor direct options.

At present, around 60% of the installed V2500 fleet is backed by a V-Services agreement.
