Global 7000

Bombardier Aerospace has started production and assembly of major structures for the first Flight Test Vehicle (FTV1) of the Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft programme.

The move marks a key product development milestone and significant step forward for the programme.

Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft programme vice-president and general manager Bassam Sabbagh said: "We are entering an exciting phase of the Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft programme.

"The programme is progressing well in the detailed design phase (DDP) with the majority of the production drawings already released."

Various structural and system suppliers along with Bombardier’s manufacturing sites are engaged in producing major structures for FTV1.

The assembly of rear fuselage and cockpit is being carried out at Bombardier Aerospace manufacturing sites in Querétaro, Mexico, and St-Laurent, Canada, respectively.

The centre fuselage is being assembled at Aerolia’s manufacturing site in Méaulte, France, and the wing at Triumph’s facility in Red Oak, Texas.

The Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft are scheduled to enter service in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Global 7000 aircraft, a large business jet, will have a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90 and a range of 7,300nm, while the Global 8000 aircraft is a long-range business jet, with a range of 7,900nm and a cruise of Mach 0.90.
