Boeing has delivered its first 787 Dreamliner to Oman’s national carrier Oman Air.

In order to expand its services, Oman Air ordered six 787-8s in 2011 and will deploy the first Dreamliner on services between Saudi Arabia and Europe.

Oman Air CEO Paul Gregorowitsch said: "We are delighted to receive our first Dreamliner, which combined with Oman Air’s award-winning service, will provide an excellent travel experience for our customers.

"Our decision to invest in this game-changing airplane underlines our confidence in the 787 and the value it will add in terms of reliability, operational efficiency and comfort."

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a new range of big-jet commercial airplanes that came into service in 2011.

In consideration of its growing demand among airlines operators, Boeing designed the 787 family to have greater efficiency to allow operators to offer direct flights.

"Our decision to invest…underlines our confidence in the 787 and the value it will add in terms of reliability, operational efficiency and comfort."

Boeing commercial airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner said: "We’re proud to have Oman Air join our growing base of 787 customers in the Middle East and around the world.

"Our partnership with Oman Air dates back almost 15 years during, which time the airline has been operating the 737 family. We’re delighted to help introduce Boeing twin-aisle airplanes into its growing fleet."

A present, Boeing has eight 787 customers in the Middle East region. It has received 175 orders for Dreamliners and 140 in the pipeline.

Last July Oman Air partnered with Boeing to provide a suite of services for introducing 787 Dreamliners into its fleet.

The new partnership is expected to help Oman Air reducing the time and cost of maintenance, and increase the availability of aeroplanes.

Boeing will also provide Oman Air’s 787s its component services, formerly rotables exchange, programme, loadable software airplane parts service and aeroplane health management.
