UK sports car maker Aston Martin Lagonda has announced a new design partnership with civil and military helicopter manufacturer Airbus Corporate Helicopters (ACJ).

The partnership has already seen a team of automotive and aeronautical designers from both companies working together for the past year.

The first product of this partnership is scheduled to be revealed in the first quarter of next year.

The revealing of the new creation will take place at Courchevel in the French Alps on 3 January.

Aston Martin Lagonda vice-president and chief creative officer Marek Reichman said: “Applying our own automotive design principles in the aerospace world is a fascinating challenge and one that we are very much enjoying.

“I’m looking forward to the reveal in the New Year so we can show everyone what we have accomplished together.”

In 2015, the carmaker launched its Second Century Plan for sustainable long-term growth.

Airbus Corporate Helicopters is dedicated to private and business aviation customers.

According to Airbus, more than 1,800 aircraft have so far been fielded in 130 countries. ACJ has a market share exceeding 50%.

Airbus Corporate Helicopters head Frédéric Lemos said: “This is a bold cooperation, which corresponds to our tradition of experimenting with new design approaches, the result is a unique creation of breath-taking design accomplishment and beauty.”
