Rolls-Royce has received an order to provide its Trent 7000 engines to power two new Airbus A330neo aircraft of New Caledonian airline Aircalin.

The order also includes Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare engine support service featuring a parts availability option for Aircalin to guarantee the supply of Trent 7000 engine parts on-site and worldwide.

The Trent 7000 engines have between 68,000lb and 72,000lb of thrust each and are expected to offer a better performance than the current Trent 700 version.

“It will allow Aircalin to achieve significant savings in fuel consumption and offer our passengers more comfort.”

They are also expected to improve specific fuel consumption by 10% and will significantly reduce noise.

Aircalin CEO Didier Tappero said: “These new generation Rolls-Royce engines will power our future A330neo long-haul aircraft.

“It will allow Aircalin to achieve significant savings in fuel consumption and offer our passengers more comfort.”

In November, Egyptair selected Rolls-Royce’s Trent 1000 TEN engines to power six Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The aircraft will be operated by Egyptair on lease from AerCap.

The Trent 1000 TEN engines will be equipped with technologies developed under Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB and Advance engine programme to deliver improved aircraft economics and environmental performance.

EgyptAir has previously selected the Trent 700 engine and TotalCare support for its fleet of Airbus A330 planes.
