Colombian low-cost airline VivaColombia has renewed its component power-by-the-hour support contract with A J Walter (AJW) Aviation for its A320 fleet.

The airline intends to increase its A320 fleet to ten by the end of the year.

VivaColombia and AJW Aviation signed a deal for the component power-by-the-hour support in July 2012.

AJW supported the airline with components from its facility in Miami, US, which futures service-ready Airbus component inventories.

The company has already installed a main base kit in Medellin, as well as leased consignment stock through AJW Leasing.

AJW Americas business development vice-president Matt Millbank said: "Our customer support team will continue to manage AJW’s comprehensive service, which has enabled VivaColombia to stay competitive throughout their crucial formative years."

"We are keen to maximise the cost benefits and efficiencies that AJW’s power-by-the-hour can deliver right across Central and South America."

The company currently has a fleet of more than 900 aircraft under contract for component coverage, expert advice and recommendations.

AJW serves more than 1,000 airlines in 42 countries worldwide and provides integrated support solutions.

AJW Group president Christopher Whiteside said: "We are delighted to support VivaColombia with its plans to vigorously develop its low-cost route network and we will do everything we can to help the airline meet its objectives.

"We also provide PBH services to its sister airline VivaAerobus in Mexico, and we are keen to maximise the cost benefits and efficiencies that AJW’s power-by-the-hour can deliver right across Central and South America."

VivaColombia operates flights to Bogota and Cartagena, as well as other domestic routes.
