A unit of United Technologies, Pratt & Whitney, has signed a deal with Chinese regional businesses Sichuan Airlines and Juneyao Airlines for supplying engines.

The company made the agreement with Sichuan Airlines to supply its PurePower PW1100G-JM engines that will power its fleet of 24 A320neo aircraft.

Sichuan Airlines’ A320neo aircraft fleet includes 15 purchased and nine leased aeroplanes.

This deal made Sichuan the first Chinese airline to select PurePower PW1100G-JM engines for to power its A320neo aircraft, the company said.

Pratt & Whitney will deliver its PurePower PW1100G-JM engines to Sichuan Airlines in 2017. The PurePower engine family has completed more than 22,000 hours and 38,000 cycles of testing.

"Since its conception, the PurePower Geared Turbofan™ engine reshaped the aerospace industry due to the engine’s advanced technology."

Sichuan Airlines chairman Li Haiying said: "We look forward to entering this new chapter of our company’s history with Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower engines powering our A320neo aircraft fleet since becoming the launch customer for the V2500 engine in China 20 years ago."

Sichuan Airlines serves in 200 domestic destinations including Beijing, Harbin, Hangzhou, Xi’an and Sanya, as well as international destinations in Asia, Australia, and North America.

Pratt & Whitney has also signed an MoU with another Chinese airline Juneyao Airlines, a subsidiary of Shanghai Juneyao for supply of V2500 engines to power the airline’s 12 Airbus A321ceo aircraft.

The deal further includes a 15-year V-ServicesSM Fleet Hour Agreement (FHA) and the engines will be offered through International Aero Engines, an engine consortium wherein Pratt & Whitney is a partner.

Juneyao Airlines will receive the delivery of the engines in November this year.

Till date, Pratt & Whitney has delivered more than 6,600 V2500 engines to nearly 200 customers worldwide.
