Deals this week: CFM International, AAR, Honeywell


CFM International has secured a contract to provide CFM56-5B engines for ten new Airbus A321ceo aircraft operated by Vietnamese airline VietJet Air.

The $580m deal also covers supply of 20 installed engines, two spare engines and long-term support.

AAR has signed a multi-year contract to provide component support for affiliate airlines that are part of the Viva LatinAmerica Group.

As part of the contract, AAR will provide pool support to the airlines such as Viva Colombia and Viva Air Peru.

The deal will expand AAR’s global presence.

Honeywell has won a $100m contract to provide 98 131-9A auxiliary power units for VietJet Air’s new fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft.

The contractor will also provide maintenance services for the power units for approximately 12 years.

Deliveries of the auxiliary units are scheduled to be completed by 2022.

Nasa has awarded a $620m contract to US-based company Science Applications International to support its scientific and exploration missions.

The contractor will provide multidiscipline engineering support services to Nasa’s Goddard Space Flight Centre’s Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate.

The company will also help develop new technologies for space and science missions as part of the deal.

Inmarsat has awarded a contract to Thales Alenia Space to build a Global Xpress (GX) communication satellite, which will have a launch weight of approximately 4t.

Based on Thales’ Spacebus B2 enhanced platform, the satellite will be used to provide communication across Europe, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.
