Deals this week: Airbus, Embraer, Spaceflight


Airbus SAS has awarded a contract to Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc to design, manufacture and supply fan cowls for Pratt and Whitney PW1100G-JM engines.

The fan cowls will protect the PW1100G-JM engines from external impacts and improve aerodynamic performance.

US-based SkyWest has awarded a contract to Brazilian aircraft manufacturing company Embraer for the purchase of 20 new E-Jets for $914m.

The scope of the supply includes 15 70-seat E175 SC aircraft and a 76-seat E175 airframe.

Embraer has also agreed to deliver five additional 76-seat E175 aircraft under the contract.

"The spacecraft are intended to perform missions such as Earth observation, planetary exploration, fundamental Earth and space science, and other investigations."

Columbia Basin Helicopters has placed an order with US-based Kaman Aerosystems for a K-MAX single-engine, single-seat, medium-lift helicopter.

The helicopter will be used in external cargo load operations and is scheduled to be delivered next year.

Nasa has awarded a multi-year contract to US-based rideshare and launch services provider Spaceflight to launch 24 U-Class payloads, which are small space research satellites, in 2018.

The contract includes options for the launch of an additional 24 payloads in 2019 and 2020.

The spacecraft are intended to perform missions such as Earth observation, planetary exploration, fundamental Earth and space science, and other investigations.
