Sital

Sital - MIL-STD-1553 IP Cores

Founded in 1993 by veterans of the Israeli Air Force who served in the technical units of F-16 avionics systems, Elbit and BAE Systems, Sital Technology is a leading provider of IP cores and products for military-standard-1553 applications.

Sital provides a full range of products for military-standard-1553 development and implementations, including 1553 IP cores for FPGA and ASIC, 1553 bus testers, USBs for 1553 interface, and more.

All products are developed in accordance with the company's unflagging commitment to quality and excellence, along with strict adherence to meeting the stringent requirements of the military and aerospace specifications.

MIL-STD-1553 IP CORES

Sital's IP cores are designed from ground up for use in aerospace, avionics and military MIL-STD-1553 solutions. They offer uniquely compact, robust and reliable BC, RT, MT solutions for any FPGA and ASIC device.

Sital offers three types of IP cores:

  • Front-end interface
  • DDC® enhanced Mini-Ace® compatible interface
  • Extended reliability for space applications

The front-end interface IP core is suitable for small and simple MIL-STD-1553 implementations, where no CPU is present or required or where relatively short messages are sent over the bus. This core is extremely easy to integrate into a design, because no software is required, and data is written or read from registers with accordance to the 1553 sub-address.

DDC-COMPATIBLE INTERFACE IP CORE

The DDC-compatible interface IP core is suitable for any MIL-STD-1553 implementation. The core incorporates a backend logic that arranges the messages in a predefined memory structure, which simplifies the interface between the 1553 bus and the local CPU. The core can act as a full replacement for DDC enhanced Mini-Ace devices as the data is arranged in the same way.

The extended-reliability IP core is suitable for high-reliability MIL-STD-1553 implementations, such as space applications. Already used by NASA and other space vendors, this core is built to overcome problems that are specific to space such as radiation, which can affect state-machines. It is also provided with an extended test bench.

All IP cores come in any required configuration of BC, RT, MT or any combination of them. The flexibility of IP cores also allows different memory configurations, any frequency clock and a selection of FPGA technologies.

MIL-STD-1553 IP CORE'S ADVANTAGES

Key features and benefits of our MIL-STD-1553 IP cores include:

  • MIL-STD-1553 intellectual property for FPGAs and ASIC
  • Suitability for any MIL-STD-1553 BC, RT, MT implementation
  • Compatibility to enhanced DDC Mini-Ace interface and functionality
  • Functionality with existing software drivers
  • Elimination of risks related to parts obsolescence
  • Small FPGA area utilisation
  • Support of any even clock frequency
  • Modular architecture allowing flexible implementations
  • Full verification environment
  • Successful full RT validation testing by third party
  • Based on vendor and technology independent VHDL code

1553 BUS TESTER

Based on Sital's 1553 IP core, the 1553 to USB card provides full MIL-STD-1553B test, simulation and bus analysis capability in a compact self-contained unit. It connects via a USB 2.0 interface to any host systems.

The USB card supports concurrent Bus Controller (BC) and up to 31 Remote Terminals (RT) with Bus Monitor (MT). Full error-injection capability is available in BC and RT modes, with full error-detection in BC, RT and MT modes.

The unit is supplied with a C-driver library, together with a Windows GUI, providing a user-friendly software tool for all 1553 set-ups, data management and storage.

Sital's products are in use by customers around the world, including space, avionics manufacturers, system integrators and air-forces.

TAIL CODE KEY REAL-TIME PARAMETRIC TESTING

The company is continuously developing new features, products and technologies for enhancing the capabilities and strength of its products. One such technology is 'tail code key', which is a method of enhancing bus maintenance-quality and safety by means of performing real-time parametric testing on the bus.

Tail code key gives an early warning that there is a problem before functionality is damaged. This technology was successfully tested by the Israeli Air Force and will be included in Sital's IP cores and products in the near future.
