Samruk Kazyna’s subsidiary Qazaq Air has leased three Bombardier Q400 Aircraft from Abu Dhabi-based Falcon Aviation Services, to launch domestic services in Kazakhstan.

The technologically advanced aircraft was showcased to local government and aviation industry representatives in Astana.

Samruk Kazyna project director Blair Pollock said: "The aircraft’s cabin will provide a quiet, comfortable experience for our passengers, and our airline will undoubtedly benefit from the aircraft’s excellent operating costs.

"We thank Falcon Aviation for providing us with their aircraft and for all their support in the months running up to this launch. We look forward to improving the air transport offering to the Kazakh people."

Qazaq Air said that the Q400 offers speed and range required to service the long sectors in the Kazakh market.

The aircraft has already proven its reliability in regions with extreme hot and cold temperatures, the airline added.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft sales and asset management senior vice-president Colin Bole said: "The Q400 aircraft’s certification for operations down to -54°C, and notably its successful operation in Canada where approximately 90 are in service, are testament to its capability to meet Qazaq Air’s growth and development plans."

The latest development in the Q series family, Q400 aircraft, is designed to adapt to various business models. The aircraft offers high-speed cruise of 160kmph and 30% fuel efficiency.

With more than 60 owners and operators, the Q400 family has logged an excess of six million flight hours in around 40 countries worldwide. Bombardier has so far logged 546 firm orders for Q400 aircraft.
